1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using BetterQualities (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of a legal entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity.

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

BetterQualities is a web-based application designed to support users in cultivating skillful mental qualities and letting go of unskillful ones. The Service provides short advice texts and exercises.

Users may create their own qualities and related content within the application. The Service is offered on both a free tier and a paid subscription tier with different feature limits.

BetterQualities is not a medical or therapeutic service.

3. No Medical or Psychological Advice

The content provided through the Service is for informational and self-development purposes only.

BetterQualities does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic services. The Service is not a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are experiencing mental health difficulties, you should consult a qualified healthcare professional.

If you are in crisis or believe you may harm yourself or others, seek immediate professional help or contact your local emergency services.

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Providing accurate and up-to-date information

You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. User Content

You may create and store content within the Service.

You retain ownership of your content. By using the Service, you grant BetterQualities a limited, non-exclusive license to host and process your content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.

You are responsible for the legality and appropriateness of your content. You must not create content that is unlawful, infringes intellectual property rights, or is abusive or discriminatory.

6. Subscriptions, Billing, and Withdrawal Rights

Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring annual basis unless otherwise specified. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise required by law.

If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you have the right to withdraw from your subscription within 14 days of purchase under Directive 2011/83/EU. If the Service has already been provided during this period, we may deduct a proportionate amount for the time during which the Service was available before withdrawal, as permitted by law.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not misuse the Service, attempt to gain unauthorized access, or interfere with its operation.

8. Intellectual Property

All content provided by BetterQualities (excluding user-generated content), including texts, design, and functionality, is the exclusive property of BetterQualities and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, except as required by applicable law. We do not guarantee that the Service will meet your expectations or produce specific results.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BetterQualities shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to the use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by law.

11. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time.

Deletion of your account does not automatically entitle you to a refund of subscription fees, except as required by law.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice by email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland. If you are a consumer in the European Union, mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence may also apply.
